Scenarios

1. Steven worked for a small global company heading up their professional services arm. The company was taken over by a very large international public company and he found himself at the age of 51 reporting to a zealot in her late twenties who believed he should be made redundant. This was causing him great distress, bouts of depression and genuine fear about his employment future. He did not have a strategy, we did. He is now working for a smaller provider where his experience is greatly valued.

2. Miriam had worked for over twenty years in various senior roles within State government and decided to take a redundancy; she was tired, stressed and needed a break. Three months later she wanted to go back to work. She could not return to the State government for twelve months. She was 51 and despite her experience, education and desire to work she did not have a strategy to move forward; we did. She is now on a twelve month contract with a significant consultancy.

3. Bob was a Sales Manager working for a Telco and at 51 hated his work with a passion. He had divorced a few years earlier, had dependent children, needed to work, needed to earn good money but was getting tired. He had little input in the product selection and the “to market” strategy; powerless.  At 52, he needed an out and despite his creativity, he did not have a strategy; we did. He now works for a smaller, niche company four and half days a week where his input is valued.

4. Ian was 55 when he was retrenched from a large Insurance company where he held a senior position in HR. Despite his training, education, background he was shattered and in his mind, unemployable. He felt an outcast; withdrew from friends and family, became depressed and lost self worth. His wife forced him to seek help. He found us and we had a strategy. He now consults three days a week on HR matters; is happy, productive and has regained his self worth.

5. Gail was 51, recently divorced and although trained as a teacher had not taught for over twenty years. How to get back into the workforce was her issue. We had a strategy. It took time, it took courage and determination from Gail but her breakthrough came and she now works part time for a national training provider.

6. Rohit, 44 had been working for the same company for 10 years; he was the most senior person in the IT department reporting directly to the IT manager. He decided that his career had stalled and that he needed to leave and re-establish himself in another company, in an IT manager role. We commenced our work together however within the first three weeks the IT manager announced he was to retire. The company went straight to external agencies to find suitable applicants without looking to Rohit. His dilemma, stay and fight for the role, or leave. We had a strategy and 8 weeks later Rohit was made IT manager.

7. David had run a successful car franchise, sold it, pocketed the cash and travelled overseas for a year. On his return, being only 52 he decided he needed to work. He had no idea what he should do. He was a self taught business person from a mechanics trade background with no other relevant qualifications. He had no idea where to start, we did, and we had a strategy. David did a Certificate 4 in training and teaches young entrepreneurs how to be successful in business.

8. Stella was trapped! Had been at the same level with the same company for six years and despite a brilliant performance level she had twice been overlooked for promotion. She had the qualifications, experience and the ability to move to the next level. Go or stay? Stella was in a muddle, in limbo, had been in a quandary over this issue for a year and did not know how to progress. We did, we had a strategy and Stella is now working for a company at the level she wanted and be sure, it was not easy but Stella dedicated herself to our strategy, took risks where appropriate and was rewarded.
